Hi everyone,
Just letting everyone know what's going on. Hope this email finds everyone doing ok.
As everyone knows we are planning the very first annual Parkinson's Disease Benefit Concert for October 25, 2008 at Peachtree City Christian Church in Peachtree City Georgia. We officially became an organization obtaining an LLC. We are officially known as The Darien Smith Foundation, LLC. We will be having an account opening up soon for donations. We have a letter that has begun to be distributed to begin bringing in those donations that will make this concert possible.
God has been good to us and He will continue to be. The foundation was informed yesterday that Darien's surgery has been moved to October 20, 2008. The Monday before our concert was to be held. After long consideration and talking with Robbie (House of Thomas) we feel that it is in our best interests to postpone our event until further notice. Depending on the recovery time for Darien and how everyone else's calendars look is based on what date we will pick next. Also, Robbie informed of another big event going on the same weekend and he felt like moving our event also would help to keep the focus on our concert and to get a HUGE turnout to our event. Although Darien asked us to not cancel the event we have decided to push to a future date yet unknown depending on Darien's recovery time and the schedules of both bands (House of Thomas and True Story.) Also we would love to keep our event at Peachtree City Christian Church. The site will continue to be up and soon will have a link for donations.
As one of the co-founders of the DSF, it was a hard choice to make. As a family member to Darien, I felt that it was more important to focus on Darien's full recovery before taking on the next challenge. With him and his families interests at heart, we wish to continue the march towards a cure of PD. We will continue to ask for donations for the event and we will have a date set as soon as possible. We serve an awesome God and I know that everything will be okay. Everything happens for a reason. With this event focused on PD and Darien, I felt like it was the right decision to wait until Darien is recovered to show the faith and courage this man of God has.
Thank you to everyone that has reached out and continued to help us. PLEASE keep Darien and his family in your prayers. If anyone has any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
In Christ,
Melissa
